Like Glen says, "Protect yourself..."

Best practices for defending you and your computer against attacks from this and similar Web threats include:

  1. Beware of pages that require software installation. Do not allow new software installation from your browser unless you absolutely trust both the Web page and the provider of the software.

  2. Scan with updated anti-virus and anti-spyware software any program downloaded through the Internet. This includes any downloads from P2P networks, the Web, and FTP server, regardless of the source.

  3. Beware of unexpected strange-looking e-mails, regardless of who sent them. Never open attachments or click on links contained in unexpected or strange-looking e-mail messages.

  4. Enable the “Automatic Update” feature in your Windows operating system and apply new updates as soon as they are available.

  5. Always have an anti-virus real-time scan service installed and activated on your computer. Regularly check to see that the service is being updated and is running.

Backups

The backup you need is the one you did not get. Ross's rule of nonexistant backups

We do not want to lose our data and we do not want you to lose yours. We use the same backup technology to protect your data that we use to protect our data. The back up that you did not get is the one you needed.
